As a child I never really enjoyed school PE and sport, and back then I wouldn’t have believed that one day I would become a keen runner and end up running my own fitness business! However, at the age of 16 I took up cycling – having been inspired by watching the Tour de France. Since then, sport and fitness have been a really important part of my life.
In 2006 I decided to take part in a 5K Run for Life race (having never been a runner) and soon I became hooked on running. I have since raced in several half marathons, 10Ks and trail races. Throughout the years I have been fortunate to remain injury free by regularly cross-training, practicing yoga and following a regular strength and conditioning programme.
Five years ago I decided to turn my passion for exercise and fitness into a career. I studied for a Level 3 Award in Health, Exercise & Fitness, followed by becoming an Instructor in Leading Exercise for Children. Then in 2012 I became a Leader in Running Fitness and set up a running group in my village. I love helping others to take up running and watch them be amazed as they progress from struggling to run for just 1 minute, to a few months later, being able to run non-stop for 20-30 minutes. I have now taken my leadership in running to the next level and have become a Coach in Running Fitness, which is enabling me to help runners of all abilities achieve their goals.
Recently I have qualified as a Personal Trainer and I am looking forward to helping a wider variety of people from busy mums, stressed office workers or those looking to stay active into older life, benefit from better fitness and nutrition.
I am also a qualified circuit training instructor and lead group fitness sessions.
